Mod Post. 4/3/18
Hello everyone, and welcome to April’s monthly mod post! We’ve got a couple of topics to cover, so strap in and let’s get to it!
Mechanics
Quests
As of this mod post, quests are now properly open to be tackled by any characters who wish to do so! So we’d like to give a quick breakdown on how quests work. All quests have been posted ICly to the Quest Forum Post, and they have also been OOCly posted to this post. Characters are welcome to respond ICly, either to discuss, look for companions to tackle a quest, etc. OOCly, the comments below are for hashing out plans, finding people to play with, and the like. Feel free to use them at will!
There is a Quest Reporting comment below as well. Please respond to that comment if your characters have taken on a quest, with the outcome of said quest (ie whether they succeed or fail) and a link to the completed thread. There’s no time limit on reporting a quest; it can be done at any point in April, it just has to be done before the end of the month, so we can tally up color changes for the next month! Please only report your quest thread when the quest itself has been threaded out.
Quests have a Requirements section. This requirements section is the base requirement for a quest to succeed. For example, if a quest requires a yellow character to participate, then any party with at least one yellow character, regardless of the make-up of the rest of the party, has the chance of succeeding (assuming they do the rest of the quest right!). Likewise, a party of only blues will be doomed to failure even if they complete the quest, because the requirements will not have been satisfied.
The quests have a breakdown of what the quest is asking for OOCly in each quest comment, and what will be required to succeed; we will leave it up to you whether your characters succeed or fail. Please feel free to be creative, and have fun with it!
And please don't be afraid to have your characters fail, either; failing a quest will still have color outcomes, and will change the quests given the following month. If your characters would mess up a quest, go for it! It'll still have a big impact on the game. Characters can take on as many quests as you have the time to thread out, and quests can be completed by multiple different groups of characters. Rewards will be granted upon quest completion!
Color Changes
This month’s color changes are as follows (color changes can be tracked at the Color/Game Timeline):
We know that was a lot, so thank you for reading and bearing with us as we get the game mechanics rolling! If there are any questions, please ask them here, to try to keep this post from becoming too cluttered.
Thank you, everyone!
Mechanics
- First off, AC has completed and has been processed. As of this post, AC is open for April. April’s AC Post can be found here. Thank you to everyone who completed AC!
- Reserves for next round will open on May 1st, at 9 PM EST. Applications will open May 7th, at 9 PM EST. Anyone who has passed AC will be able to apply for a second character in this upcoming application round, if they are interested!
- As the previous event has come to a close, all of the furniture has gone back to being just regular old furniture. The Town does look a lot better, though, so good work, guys! As for the reward, well... just go ahead and mosey on down to the color changes below!

Color Changes
This month’s color changes are as follows (color changes can be tracked at the Color/Game Timeline):
- All present characters’ fonts are now the color of their hexadecimal handle. Sorry about...all of the really bright colors on the forum all of a sudden. As a reminder, please use black in addition to your characters’ texts if you are going to use their color for texts, for ease of reading.
- However, #FFFFFF’s quest posts remain black, and the forum itself is otherwise as bleak and grey as ever.
- Due to their hard work during the event, the houses characters are living in have had their colors restored fully -- and only those houses. However, things brought into the houses will remain colorless, furniture remains colorless, etc. It is only the houses themselves that have had color restored -- the flooring, the walls, the windows, the outside of the house, etc. Ruga houses are all red brick, Flavo houses and huts are all a shade of yellow, and Bluo houses, boathouses included, are all blue.
- Finally, some foods have been restored… with a catch. Please respond below at this comment to pick a food item that has been restored. The food item must be somewhat similar to your character’s color, and must be a single item -- for example, a red character can choose to have apples be restored to color. This is an OOC choice, so you are only limited by color; if you really want spaghetti sauce to be restored, even though there’s basically none in the Town, you’re welcome to it. These foods will be restored color-wise and taste-wise; they’ll be delicious and far more edible again!
We know that was a lot, so thank you for reading and bearing with us as we get the game mechanics rolling! If there are any questions, please ask them here, to try to keep this post from becoming too cluttered.
Thank you, everyone!

First, if a character completes a quest, is that same character able to complete it multiple times? For example, the leaf quest. One yellow character finds the leaf, and then goes back again (perhaps with other characters, this time) to find another. Will they be able to find multiple golden leaves, with regards of course to how rare they are?
And if so, will they be able to complete the same quest for as many as they find? Or, if they can find multiple leaves (or teeth, since that's a similar quest) but not complete it multiple times themselves, can they give those spares to another character to allow them to complete it?
And finally, with regards to the final quest. If a character is in a group that successfully completes the requirements, are they able to join another group to allow those others to complete the quest as well? For example, a group consists of Blue1/Red1/Yellow1. Will Blue1 be able to form Blue1/Red2/Yellow2, and allow the others to meet the requirements?

that is, if dextera were in a group and used some kind of depressing charades or other form of communication, would that be valid for passing the quest? in that case, if the characters don't understand what's being communicated, would it still count?

Firstly, with colours now restored, is there anything Shiho can see with her psychometry? Specifically if she touches foods/glasses of water that have had their colours restored, or if she touches buildings/houses/trees in the forest and attempts to dig back into the past of this place? What about if she touches a glass of the water that hasn’t changed colour? Will the laptops yield any information regarding why their text now has colour?
Secondly, for the gold leaf quest, can she find that leaf using her psychometry? Or will she have to do some good-old fashioned hiking and looking?

1. Shiho's currently on a forest quest with Caramia and company, if she touches the dead bodies of the ghouls, rocs, ogres, kalidahs, wolf, etc, would she be able to see anything? Specifically why they're there, their biology, where they come from, their intent, and their lives up till the point where they decided to appear in the clearing and attack them.
2. Also, is there anything Shiho would see from the new quest prizes like the socks and potions? Specifically where they're from, what they're made of and who is giving them these things.
In canon she's able to tell the composition and the use of medicines, would she be able to do that for the potions too?
3. I think she hasn't touched any houses in a while, but is there anything new she'd be able to see from the houses, or the church?

QUEST 2
Requirements: 1 yellow.
How will one retrieve a golden leaf when there's no color in the woods? A very, very good question. I guess you could try picking a leaf from every single tree you come across, but that's not likely to work all too well.
In truth, if characters bring along a yellow-aligned character and they look really close, that character will be able to catch a golden sheen on the leaves that are gold. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, and only the yellow character will see it.
They're still super rare, though, so get prepared to tramp around the nearby fringes of the woods for hours searching for these leaves.
Ways to succeed: Bring a yellow character, find the leaf! ...That's it, that's the only way to succeed. You have to bring the leaf back into Town with you, too.
Ways to fail: If you don't bring a yellow character around, you'll be in trouble. But also if you don't find the leaf, obviously you've failed. If the leaf is damaged or lost before it is brought back to the Town, the quest will also fail.

QUEST 3
Requirements: 1 red, 1 blue.
The harpies nest in the north-west from the Town, into the woods. If characters travel that way long enough, they'll find some steep cliffs rising out of the earth, and it's at the top of those cliffs that the harpies live. There's a nice, large flock of them that live in the cliffs and caves there, and they will not be happy to see the player characters. If you try to kill a few? The rest will come after you too, endless harpies screeching and clawing with their disgusting claws.
Ways to succeed: This quest is extremely vague about what "hunting the harpies" means, but you don't have to defeat all of them! However -- everyone in your quest group must kill at least one for the quest to be marked complete.
Ways to fail: If not everyone in the group kills at least one harpy, no matter how many you kill as a group, you won't be completing the quest! Likewise, if the group does not have at least one red and one blue character, it is doomed to failure.

QUEST 4
Requirements: 1 red.
Ah, a fetch quest. There are fun, hulking wolves hanging around, as demonic and weird as the rest of the animals wandering around the woods, and they are...
Well, actually, they're really skittish. They'll avoid people as best they can, and they have no interest in trying to hunt weird, colorful player characters when there's much easier prey in the woods. The hardest part of this quest might actually be finding one.
Of course, they'll fight back when attacked, and those teeth are nasty and will do some damage, but they'll still choose to flee given the chance. They travel alone, so you don't even have to worry about a pack!
Ways to succeed: Hunt one down and bring back a tooth. This isn't an RPG, by the way; you have to cut or yank that tooth out of their jaw. Ew. That said? You don't actually have to kill the wolves to succeed in this quest; so long as you bring back a tooth, you'll complete the quest.
Ways to fail: Just don't forget the tooth, okay? Alternatively you could probably wander the woods for days looking for these assholes, only to have them run when you find them, a la Entei from Pokemon, so that's a good way to fail too.

QUEST 5
Requirements: 5 of: 1 red, 1 blue, 1 yellow.
Now that's an obscure quest. Nothing more is said about how to complete said quest, or what the requirements mean, or anything. Characters are probably going to have to put their heads together to figure out this one.
Ultimately, what the quest wants is for characters to share stories that have meaning to them -- whether they are real or fiction.
Ways to succeed: Five separate groups of characters, consisting of at least one character of each color, must come together and share stories that have an emotional impact on them. This does not have to be done all at once, naturally, and can be done throughout the month, as separate groups, or what-have-you. But there must be five different groups of characters taking this task on for this quest to be accomplished.
Ways to fail: If the story does not have an actual, emotional impact on the character sharing it, that character's contribution will not be counted to the quest. For example, if a red character doesn't share a story with actual meaning to them, then a different red character needs to do so with that group of characters, or the entire group's contribution won't count. If any number less than 5 groups contributes, then the quest will fail (however, more groups is fine). If the groups do not have the right combination of at least one of each color, the quest will fail.
It's a very finicky and persnickety quest, but the reward will probably be worth it...!
